When To Prune

WINTER is one of the best times of year to prune many trees and shrubs in Northeastern Connecticut. While the plants are dormant, and other gardening tasks subside, we are hard at work with the pruning tools shaping, nurturing, and preparing our customer's landscapes and gardens for a spectacular Spring showing!

SUMMER TRIMMING begins as the spring blooming season comes to a close. This is the perfect time to shape things and help prepare your garden for the coming seasons.

Problems With Unpruned Trees And Shrubs

  • Tend to outgrow their boundaries

  • Appear unkept and out of shape

  • Encroach on buildings, blocking out sunlight from windows and encouraging mold and mildew to grow and paint to peel

  • Overbranching occurs and the excess growth puts undue stress on the plant. This causes dead branches which invite parasitic insects and disease

  • These conditions DRASTICALLY REDUCE the health and lifespan of the plant
